Show Build Diary

Wed 25th August - Day 1
Hi All
Today was the first day of the North East Koi Club 2010 show build. First task of the day was to mark out the show vat arena and put down two layers of visqueen to protect the floor area and koi.
Then once we had finished with the visqueen, we then had to off load the container which holds the show equipment. We had to take out all the 8’ & 6’ vats out of the container, which all had to be sterilised, cleaned and dried. Once we had done this it was onto the lighting gantry, last year we numbered all the gantry parts which this year made assembling the gantry a lot easier and quicker, well for most of it...This took us all morning which compared to previous years was a lot quicker.
Next we placed all the vats into their places, then we split into a couple of groups, some of us fitted the light bulbs over the vats while the other team connecting all the wiring up for the lighting we also managed to connect all the air pipe work in place.  While all this inside work was being done the water team were preparing all the water vats outside which are used to hold all the vat water changes these were filled with purified water and are tested regularly.
We were now making some real progress compared to previous years.
Once we had done all of this we then sterilized all the air stones, air line and blue domes which hold the zeolite, and placed these into all the vats. While this was getting done all the splash screens were getting assembled and fitted between the vats, and all the vats were then moved into their final resting place.
Then to end the day,
A North East Koi show first, we started filling vats on Wednesday evening! A very productive day...
Certainly some great team work today.
